Eid in Calais Appeal

Hello everyone

I'm sure you've all seen or heard about the horrific situation of refugees fleeing war and death in Syria.

No one can forget the heart breaking image of little Aylan Kurdi...

There are approximately 100 children of varying ages living at the government-run Jules Ferry centre in Calais.

It is upsetting to know that these children have nothing. Conditions are poor and these children are surrounded by despair.

Towards the end of this month is Eid an important celebration in the Muslim calendar a lot like Christmas.

It’s hard to think that some of these children will be unable to celebrate as most of our children would celebrate such a festival surrounded by warmth love and happiness, with brightly wrapped gifts and feasts of celebration food.

That is why in conjunction with Calais Solidarity UK we are raising funds to make sure that every child of every faith at the refugee camp in Calais gets to celebrate Eid this month.

Together with your help we are hoping to bring the children at Jules Ferry Centre a  little happiness.

We aim to purchase very useful backpacks and fill with beneficial goodies such as fleece hats, gloves as well as a gift and sweets.

A group of us volunteers from the Cardiff and Vale Solidarity branch will go down to Calais on Saturday 26th September to distribute these gifts as well as arrange some fun activities to do with the children!

It would mean a lot to us and to the kids at Calais if you could help in any way.

These are the funding page details.. www.gogetfunding.com/eidincalais2015

Any amount no matter how small will help significantly.

I will keep you updated with pictures and information on our visit when we return.

Thank You on behalf of Calais Solidarity UK for taking the time to read this email and Thank You in advance if you are planning to help.

Your efforts and assistance are massively appreciated.

Hanan and Aisha
